The Challenge:
The Severn team in Aberdeen were requested to conduct an overhaul of the 24” Condensate Export Emergency Shut-down valve on a Offshore Oil & Gas platform in the North Sea as part of a major TAR campaign.
It was vital for the scope to be completed within the TAR window and as such, the Severn team had to react quickly and efficiently day-to-day to deliver the planned overhaul for the client on time whilst addressing any unforeseen obstacles that arose along the way in a safe and efficient manner.
Finding a solution:
Initial engagement between Severn and the client took place to fully understand the scope of the task at hand. As a result of the discussions and planning, Severn assisted the client by offering technical input as to what spares and tooling were required to carry out the overhaul successfully.
The Severn team also created and supplied the client with a detailed method statement, detailing the steps involved in overhauling the valve to have complete transparency with the client and allow the client to raise the required work permits.
The outcome:
The contracts and operations department within Severn Aberdeen managed the scope efficiently and professionally, from inception through to implementation, Severn’s team of service engineers supervised on board the platform, forming a 24 hour schedule to provide total coverage of the overhaul.
Having the experienced team of service engineers on the offshore platform was vital in achieving the set deadline by the client.
In addition, daily communication between Severn and the client helped to ensure this overhaul was carried out seamlessly and in the end the overhaul itself was finished well before the platform was due to start up again after its maintenance campaign had concluded.
